Jane… you ain’t Jesus! (oh yeah, and pictures too)

This amused me to no end. Apparently, right after Dr. Fernandes became provost unilaterally (without the support of the faculty), several people were touting her abilities. One former special assistant to the president even went so far to tell a colleague, “Jane Fernandes can walk on water, that’s how talented she is.” That person replied, “Nobody walked on water except Jesus!” Darn right! JKF has a rather scary messianic complex, stating things like, “I’m the only person in the world who is able to lead Gallaudet.” (Washington Post)

Yikes! Jane, you ain’t Jesus!

Anyway, I took pictures today like usual. Got some in the morning, and more at the rally at 8pm. Check them out at the website like usual. Go to Galleries… aw heck, you know the drill. As for cell phones and pagers, Ricky (of Ridor fame) and I are working on getting galleries hosted by someone who is donating unlimited bandwidth, with thumbnails enabled for faster loading through phones/PDAs. I also hope to start putting up a few videos.

“You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear, and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing is worth dying for, when did this begin…? Should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the Pharaoh? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots of Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard ’round the world?”

Hi, I would like to see your sets of photos coming with RSS feeds so DeafRead can fetch your sets of photos in its frontpage.

Flickr does it wonderfully.

Hi Rene-
How can I do this without losing my Flash galleries?

That’s a good question, but there’s many options that can pull Flickr photos into a slideshow/photo galleries.

Flickr provides its own Flash tool for your photos. All you need is to upload the photos, then create sets (similar to galleries), then it will give you an option to create a Flash-like gallery with an URL.

I like Flickrshow because it can be embedded in your blog without having to create a new webpage, etc. It can pull out your photos from your Flickr account.

If it’s time consuming, try this cool Flash app:

http://www.airtightinteractive.com/projects/autoviewer/

It will read your current image folders and make its own Flash gallery.

The reason I brought up Flickr is that people can make comments on each photo or a set of photos which is a neat feature. I bet people will make a lot of comments on your photos which is sorely lacking in your photo galleries.

One more thing:

Pittsburgh Deaf Club has its own Flickr account which is COOL!

http://flickr.com/photos/pghdeafclub/sets/

As you can see how it was organized and each set has its own RSS feed.

Rene,
Thanks so much! We just bought a Pro account on flickr, waiting for Paypal e-check to clear, then we will be up and running our photo blogs. Really appreciate your tips :)
