Ding-Dong, The Wicked Witch is Dead!

…well not quite, but close enough. I’m on campus right now and have been here for most of the day. The mood is one of exuberance and exhiliration and excitement. Plenty of smiles, lots of hugs. Feels like a dark cloud has lifted off of Gallaudet, and now the sun is shining even brighter than before. Everything seems to be more colorful, just that much better and brighter. I took some pictures (of course) and will have them up later… I talked to a few people and found out some things:

-the BoT requested FSSA to leave IKJ alone until December and let him leave with a little dignity. He did a few good things for GU over the last 18 years. However, student leaders are concerned about retaliation/reprisals… they are hoping for the best, and are determined to show some class and not sink to IKJ’s level.

-tentatively confirmed: Gally lost 10 million in three weeks of protests, according to an inside source. That’s not counting all the damage that hasn’t been fixed yet, and the costs before this fall, nor the costs from the last few days, so I’d say it’s closer to 15 million.

That’s about it from Kendall Green for now.. but the fight is not over.

How in the heck did they come up with a $10 million loss? That sounds too high. If it’s from donations, that will be made up in short time, but if that is from actually damages to the campus, then doesn’t make sense. Maybe they are counting the missed days when the campus was shut down and no one could go to work for three day, along with the HMB shutdown. That could add up, but not $10 million.

this may be the “V”ictory in a world of simple lies, but where complex truths exist, I am suspicious of how this decision came to be and the consequences of this decision which now reside in the aftermath. pondering….

What about the damaged IKJ sign at the SAC? Will it be removed indefinitely? How about the Linda Jordan Art Gallery? That needs to be taken out as well since IKJ and Linda haven’t left the campus yet.

Have you checked into the rumored $1 or $2 million dollars clause that was supposedly in Jane’s contract when offered the presidency?

Yes, I agree. It is not over until the fat lady sings.

Cheers

mind’s eye….. go against one person vs thousands people… WHAT A LOL…

I hope they fix the sign and just leave it there. IKJ has been through enough. I just feel that since we got our first demmand satisfied, it would be the proper thing to let some things go. he DID do a lot of good for Gally – really spiffed up the campus, for one thing.

Perhaps the missing millions can be attributed to PR fees, and the slanted articles in the Washington Post?

I agreed with tentcityuk about the missing millions can be attributed to PR fees and the Deaf Race Card articles just appeared in St. Louis, Missouri, the strongest Audisms City:
